Heibon magazine was a very popular general interest monthly publication featuring articles about celebrities. It was founded in 1945 and ceased publication in 1987. During the 1950s and early 1960s, Heibon often included bromide cards of celebrities in various issues of the magazine. The magazine dealt with sports celebrities only occasionally. However, the 1958 phenomenon that was Shigeo Nagashima could not be ignored. Between 1958 and 1960, Nagashima was found on the cover of Heibon several times, and a few Nagashima cards were included with the magazine. We offer here the June 1958 issue, complete with a strip of three bromide cards bound into the magazine. Nagashima shares the strip with Actor/Singer Yujiro Ishikawa and Singer/Actor Hibari Misora. Only two copies of this Nagashima rookie are known in the hobby. This is an important rookie card for the Nagashima collector.

Size: The magazine is 7 1/4" x 10", 290 pages. The Nagashima card is 2 1/8" x 3 1/16".

Condition: The magazine is in Ex condition. The Nagashima card appears Nr/Mt in the scan, however the card does have some surface wrinkles and creasing.
