As is the case with the previous two lots, this is the only known example of this postcard sized, blank backed card which was most probably produced to honor the Giants' 1953 Japan Tour. It was apparently a second prize winner card on a display sheet. The player image printed on this card is identical to Spencer's JBR 57 second prize card. However the JBR 57 image contains a playing field background, while the image of Spencer on this card is superimposed over a plain, grey background. Also, the legend is located in a different position on this card and contains different Japanese text. The card offered here contains the text, "New York Giants, Daryl Spencer infielder." The 1953 Tour games were the last games played by Spencer for the Giants until 1956, when he returned from military service. Interestingly, following his 10 year career in Major League Baseball, Spencer played for seven years in Japan Pro Baseball, retiring in 1972 at the age of 43.

Size: 3 1/2" x 5 1/8"

Condition: All four front corners have surface damage from previous mounting in a photo album. The back contains extra paper, missing paper and glue residue from this previous mounting and also from the original attachment to a display sheet by the manufacturer. No creasing or tearing. Overall Vg.
