As is the case with the previous lot, this is the only known example of this postcard sized, blank backed card which was most probably produced to honor the Giants' 1953 Japan Tour. It was apparently a second prize winner card on a
display sheet. Mueller was the batting star of the Tour, hitting .388 with three homers while appearing in all 14 contests. This was no surprise as Mueller had batted .333 during the 1953 regular season. However, he improved upon those
totals in 1954, hitting .342 during the regular season and .389 in the World Series. During the 1954 season, Mueller struck out only 17 times in 657 plate appearances! The Japanese text printed on the card reads, "New York Giants Don
Mueller outfielder".
