Over the past 25 years, we have offered well over 50 lots containing large sized masks of Japanese baseball players. Of all these lots, this is only the third time that we have had the pleasure of offering a JDM 7 mask. The set has been given a scarcity designation of R4 in the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist and Price Guide, Vintage Edition (less than ten copies known for most cards). Offered here is Hall of Famer Takehiko Bessho as a member of the Yomiuri Giants. Unlike all JDM 7 cards that we have previously offered only one eye is punched out, making this a truly rare specimen. All previously auctioned cards had both eyes punched. The nose remains intact. Blank backed.
