Of the numerous U.S. Major League Tours of Japan which took place throughout the 1950s, 60s and 70s, the 1968 Cardinals Tour is one of the Tours for which we have seen the smallest number of tickets. In fact, in our more than 60 auctions and mini auctions, this is only the second time that we have offered a ticket from this 18 game Tour!

This ticket stub is for the penultimate game of the Tour, played on November 19th at Chunichi Stadium between the Cards and a team composed of members of the Yomiuri Giants and Chunichi Dragons. The Cardinals prevailed by a score of 3-2 behind a young Mike Torrez, who coincidentally also homered! In addition, the immortal Lou Brock homered for the Cardinals in that game. 26,000 fans witnessed this spectacle. The St. Louis team finished with a record of 13-5 on the Tour. Interestingly, the back of the ticket features an advertisement for Pepsi Cola which contains a large image of Golden Player, Isao Shibata of the Yomiuri Giants endorsing the product.
