The eagerly anticipated San Francisco Seals Goodwill Tour of Japan spawned a number of baseball card sets. One scarce, uncatalogued set includes this card featuring All Japan team manager and Japan Hall of Famer, Shinji Hamazaki, and Seals manager and Japan Hall of Fame member, Lefty O'Doul. In 1949, O'Doul was already a veteran of the storied 1931 and 1934 U.S. Major League All Star Tours of Japan as a player. Hamazaki, a former pitcher, was also a veteran of the 1934 Tour. During the 11 game Tour, the Seals faced the All Japan team, composed of Japan's strongest pro players four times, with the Seals winning all games.
