This card comes directly from a taba (hanging bundle) that we personally opened. The Japanese text at bottom refers to Starffin as a member of the East team. The 6' 3" Russian emigre was a two time MVP. In 1939, Starffin, a right handed pitcher won 42 games, a single season record that still stands. In 1940, he won 38 games with an ERA of 0.97! He was Japan Pro Baseball's first 300 game winner and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1960. Blank backed except for a prize winner notation printed by the manufacturer.
