Of all the 1931 Tour tickets that we have auctioned over the years, this is the first one of this style that we have offered for Game 2 of the Tour, played on November 8, 1931 at Jingu Stadium. The opposition for the All Stars was Waseda
University. The Americans came from behind to prevail by a score of 8 to 5, thanks to a seven run 7th inning. Japan Hall of Famer Masao Date had hamstrung the Major League All Stars earlier in the game, but subsequent pitchers
Fukuda and Shimizu were not quite as successful. Lefty Grove was the winning pitcher in relief. We doubt that the Americans took the game completely seriously as Lou Gehrig pitched a scoreless inning! The ticket itself was used, as
can be seen by the punch hole.
Size: 2 5/16" x 3 7/16"
Condition: The ticket has vertical and horizontal creases from having been folded at one time. Also, there is excess paper on the blank back at top from having been pasted in a book in the past. Some dirt on the back as well.
