We are quite pleased to offer only the second example of this advertising piece discovered to date. The first one appeared in our January 2006 auction. The 1931 U.S. Major League All Star Tour of Japan featured a power packed lineup of American Hall of Famers, including Lou Gehrig, Lefty Grove, Mickey Cochrane, Al Simmons, Rabbit Maranville and George Kelly, plus Japan HOFer Lefty O'Doul. The U.S. team played teams consisting of many of Japan's all time greats. However, the Americans prevailed in all 17 games. 15 members of the U.S. team are depicted on this postcard sized advertisement for the Tour. Each player's name is printed in Japanese below his image, with Grove, Cochrane and Gehrig prominently featured at upper left. Distributed by Mizuno Sporting Goods in Osaka.

Size: 3 1/2" x 5 11/16"

Condition: Heavy creasing and minor chipping at upper right. Other, more minor creasing, chipping and tearing along the right hand border. The player images remain in outstanding condition.
