This set has long been a favorite of Japanese baseball collectors due to the unusual diecut airplane theme. The three Japan Hall of Fame players portrayed in the set are Tetsuharu Kawakami, the "God of Batting" (top row left),
Kawakami's fierce rival, Hiroshi Oshita (top row right), and Kaoru Betto the "Gentleman of Baseball" (bottom row, both cards). These were arguably the three best hitters of the early postwar era. One of the Betto cards is a rare, grey
uniform variation. These cards are part of a larger set consisting mostly of non-baseball airplane menko. Blank backed.
Size: Each card is approximately 2 1/4" x 2 1/2".
Condition: Kawakami--Minor chipping on the reverse at the tail. Oshita--surface crease at the tail. Grey Betto--minor creasing. Blue Betto--no chipping or creasing. Overall condition range--Ex to Nm/Mt.
