While the 1951 Osato Gangu black and white game set is seen fairly often, the 1952 Color Set is exceedingly rare. In the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition, it is assigned a scarcity factor of R5, indicating that three or fewer copies of each card are known in the hobby. 14 of the 40 cards in the set are included here, including a card of Taiwanese native and Japan Pro Baseball Hall of Famer, Shosei Go (lower right). Others in this lot include (top row, left to right)--Yoshio Yuasa, Takuji Kochi, Shoshichi Ito (all members of the Mainichi Orions) Ichiro Nishie (Hanshin Tigers), and Takeshi Doigaki (Marines); (middle row left to right)--Yasuya Hondo and Takuzo Miyake (both Orions), Keizu Tsutsu (Nankai Hawks), Tsuguo Goto and Takao Fujimura (both Tigers); (bottom row, left to right)--Chusuke Kizuka (Hawks), Shigeru Tokuami (Tigers), Susumu Yuki (Hawks) and the aforementioned Shosei Go (Orions). All cards with the exception of Go have Japanese hiragana text or traces of erased text handwritten by a previous owner in the solid color background, not affecting the player images.

Size: Each card is 1 5/8" x 2 9/16".

Condition: All cards but that of Shosei Go would range from Ex to Nm, except that they have Japanese handwriting or traces of handwriting in the background. The Go card contains no handwriting, but has rounded corners and is heavily creased and therefore grades only Fair.
