This bespectacled righthander won three Sawamura (Japan Cy Young) awards and won at least 30 games in a season twice. He has signed this traditional signing board in black brush pen. Sugishita also wrote the word "endeavor" in Japanese in large kanji to the right of his signature. We do not know whether Sugishita painted the accompanying beetle or not, but it appears to have been painted with the same brush as the autograph. Similarly, we do not know who hand painted the leaves that appear in the background.
