Group images like this were not often seen on bromide cards of the late 1940s. The featured attraction here is the Japan Hall of Famer from Russia, Victor Starffin, being flanked by the rest of the All Japan pitching staff, including HOFers Hideo Fujimoto (bottom left) and a player who appears to be Takehiko Bessho (right). This is most likely the group that faced the San Francisco Seals in 1949. The number 4 was printed on the otherwise blank back of the card by the manufacturer, indicating that the card was a fourth prize winner, which entitled the bearer to select a fourth prize card from the display sheet which hung in the candy store owner's shop.
