On October 10, 1922 the Tomon Club (Keio U. graduates) met the Mita Club (Waseda U.) graduates in the first game of a three game series. The game pitted two future Hall of Famers on the mound for their respective teams. Righthander Michimaru Ono started for the Waseda Old Boys (Mita) and lefty Goro Taniguchi started for the Keio Old Boys (Tomon). This was the fiercest rivalry in Japanese baseball by far. It made Yankees vs. Red Sox look like a love-in by comparison. In this first game, Tomon won 2-1 and Taniguchi was the winning pitcher. Unfortunately for Taniguchi and Tomon, Mita won the next two games with Taniguchi being the losing pitcher. This postcard was printed as part of a set with Lot 81.
