The greatest player rivalry of the post war period in Japan Pro Baseball was the one waged between Giants great Tetsuharu Kawakami and Flyers legend Hiroshi Oshita. While Kawakami was the star of Japan's team, the Giants, Oshita was the "Avis" of the era. Despite his lofty batting averages and home run totals, he could not quite match the acclaim of Kawakami. Perhaps, the rivalry is best symbolized by Kawakami's red bat and Oshita's blue bat which emphasized the two players' contrast in style and demeanor. This lot contains an image of Kawakami swinging his red bat, and one of Oshita with his blue bat. The other Japan Hall of Famers in this lot are Shigeru Chiba, Katsumi Shiraishi and Michio Nishizawa. Others are Sugiura-Dragons, Kawasaki-Giants and Yamada-Stars. Blank backed.
