JGA 149 was originally issued as two uncut sheets of 25 cards each. Most cards in the set depict entertainers. However, there are six baseball players including Sadaharu Oh, two sumo rikishi, two professional wrestlers (Rikidozan and Lou Thesz), and actors John Wayne and Clint Eastwood.

1962 was a rare season during Nagashima's career in that his Yomiuri Giants did not win the Central League pennant or the Japan Series. However, Nagashima finished second in the Central League in both homers and RBIs, and was named to the Central League Best 9 team as always.
