Calbee Home Run redemption cards were randomly seeded in Calbee card packs of the 1970s. They have front images that are the same as one of the regular cards in a given set, but the backs differ in that they are instructions for sending in the home run card to receive a premium. In this case, the owner of the card could choose among several prizes including an album to hold Calbee cards, an autographed baseball, or a "mascot bat". Most Calbee home run cards were redeemed, and as a result, they either have a redemption stamp on the back, or redemption marks in pen or pencil.
This lot features a JC 8f Calbee Home Run Card of Sadaharu Oh. The front image is the same as the regular card #3 in the July Best Series. The card was recently pulled from a pack, so it was never redeemed, saving it from a redemption blemish on the reverse side. As far as we can tell, this is the only 1979 Calbee home run card of Sadaharu Oh that has been graded by PSA!
