The JGA 152 set was issued as a premium to purchasers of the September 1968 issue of Shonen Book magazine. Since Shonen Book is a general interest magazine for children, rather than a sports publication, issues of the magazine have rarely fallen into the hands of sports collectors. Furthermore, many children who read Shonen Book were not interested in baseball cards at the time and threw them away. Both of these facts contribute to the current rarity of the set.

Only 10 examples of this card have ever been authenticated by third party grading companies.
