Larry Doby played for the Newark Eagles in the Negro Leagues prior to becoming only the second African American to play in the major leagues, and the first to do so in the American League. Doby played major league baseball from 1947 to 1959 with the Indians, White Sox and Tigers. Subsequently, he finished his career with the Chunichi Dragons in 1962. He is the only player enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown who also was an active player in Japan Pro Baseball.

This card is one of only three examples graded by PSA. Two of the cards received the grade of Authentic. One card is a PSA 1. SGC has graded two examples. One card is an SGC 1. The other was graded Authentic.
