Lefty O'Doul, a veteran of the 1931 and 1934 U.S. Major League All Stars Japan Tours, managed the San Francisco Seals during their journey to the Land of the Rising Sun in 1949. The San Francisco Seals Tour of Japan was one of the earliest post World War II peacetime cultural exchanges between the U.S. and Japan. O'Doul had such a profound effect on baseball in Japan that he was eventually elected to the Japan Baseball Hall of Fame.
This is the only example of JGA 144 O'Doul ever graded by CGC. SGC has not graded any JGA 144 cards. PSA has graded four JGA 144 O'Douls, but none of them received a grade as high as this CGC specimen.
