This is a very rare card which depicts a very obscure player. The JCM 142 Red Border Menko set has been given a scarcity factor of R5 in Japanese Baseball Cards Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 3.0, meaning that five or fewer copies are known of each card in the set. We believe that Mr. Furutachi's first name is pronounced Rizo, but we are not certain. We know that he went to Fukuoka High School before matriculating at Tokyo Imperial University. In 1929, he was the ace of the Tokyo Imperial U. pitching staff. Following his university career, he went to work at the Industrial Bank of Japan. After that, the trail runs cold.
