We had always surmised that the often seen sets of Meiji playing cards containing an image of Sadaharu Oh in his flamingo batting stance on the back were from the late 1960s. Now, after seeing this advertising sheet/order form for the first time, we know that the decks of cards were produced in 1969.
The message across the top of this piece encourages the reader to get high quality Sadaharu Oh playing cards. The cards are referred to as "luxury cards". The text states that if you purchase of 24 bottles of Meiji Sukatt soft drinks (one case) during December 1969 or January 1970, you will be entitled to a deck of cards. We see images of the card decks, along with Oh quaffing his favorite Sucatt drink.
