The success of BBM baseball cards prompted the Tomy company to join the Japanese baseball card wars. The company issued sets in both 1993 and 1994. While BBM's early cards were a bit smaller than standard size U.S. baseball cards, Tomy ID produced 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" cards just like Topps, Fleer, Donruss, etc.
There are 408 cards in the 1993 Tomy ID set. The set was issued in two series. The seven card packs offered here are from Series I (#1-295). The key card in the set is #102, a rookie card of Ichiro Suzuki. Other luminaries appearing in the first series include future U.S. Major Leaguers Hideo Nomo, Tsuyoshi Shinjo, Shigetoshi Hasegawa, So Taguchi, Kazuhiro Sasaki, Takashi Saitoh, Hideki Irabu, Satoru Komiyama and Kaz Ishii.
Inside the unopened packs offered here, there are a total of 70 cards.
