While Andre the Giant (born Andre Roussimoff) is best known in North America for his 19 year run in the World Wrestling Federation (1973-1991), he was an established international superstar wrestler long before that. He began his professional wrestling career in his native country of France at age 18 in 1964. By the time he entered the WWF, he had wrestled all over the world and was especially well known in Japan. As a result,most early cards produced of Andre the Giant emanate from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Takara is a card company well known to collectors for their baseball game card sets which they produced for two decades. Generally, packs of 30 cards depicting baseball players on each of the 12 baseball teams were produced. Takara also produced wrestling cards during this era. Offered here is a card of Andre the Giant. A wonderful portrait of Andre appears on the front, with a scene of a wrestler dropkicking an opponent on the reverse.
