Glenn Mickens was born in Wilmar, California in 1930. He pitched in four games (two of which were starts) for the 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers. He also played for five seasons in Japan, from 1959 until 1963, with the Kintetsu Buffaloes, for whom he compiled a record of 45-53 with a 2.54 ERA.

This is the first time that we have offered an example of this type of Glenn Mickens card at auction. Various sets of Tachibana Seika cards were produced by the Hinomaru Caramel Co. between 1952 and 1962. Only the 1962 cards contain the player's name on the card. Therefore, despite the fact that many different types of Tachibana Seika cards are catalogued in Japanese Baseball Cards Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 3.0, there are no checklists for most sets in the Guide. However, based on the back design, we know that this card was issued in 1961, despite the fact that Mickens is wearing a Buffaloes cap that was used only in 1959.

Size: 1 19/32" x 2 9/32"

Condition: Would be Vg/Ex to Ex, but has some dots of ink staining on the back.
