JCM 30a Sequential Cards are, without a doubt, the most popular rookie cards of Shigeo Nagashima. The four cards sequentially depict Nagashima's batting form, successfully capturing the essence of Japan's Mr. Baseball.

In his rookie season of 1958, Nagashima exceeded all the hype surrounding his turning pro. This feat was quite astounding because he was expected to be one of the all time greats before donning a Yomiuri Giants uniform for the first time. In his rookie year, he won the home run and RBI crowns, and was second in batting average. He also led the league in doubles, hits and runs scored. His spectacular batting and fielding earned him a spot on the Central League Best 9 team at third base. Unsurprisingly, he was named Rookie of the Year.
