We are pleased to offer an example of the JK 24 Karuta Victor Starffin card for only the second time in our history. The set was originally included inside a January 1956 magazine in two uncut sheets entitled Sports Karuta. Starffin is pictured here during his final season, when he was a member of the Tombow Unions. In 1955, he became the first career 300 game winner in Japanese professional baseball. He retired prior to the 1956 season with a career record of 303 wins and 176 losses. He died on January 12, 1957 at age 40. He was inducted into the Japan Baseball Hall of Fame in 1960.
