Japan's greatest hurler ever is seen here in one of his earlier appearances on a card. It's not surprising that he was selected for inclusion in the premium set because the great left hander was coming off his first great season. In 1951, he went 25-10 with a 2.83 ERA. This interestingly designed card was a display sheet premium card, which was awarded to the holder of a 1952 JBR 28 Yamakatsu bromide card with a third prize winner stamp on the back. The card was produced in bookmark style including a tassel.
