This is a second year card of the all time greatest Japanese pitcher, lefty hurler Masaichi Kaneda. He is seen here, at right, as a member of the Kokutetsu Swallows of the Central League. He is pictured with Chunichi Dragons Hall of Fame pitcher Shigeru Sugishita, who was in his third season at the time. This was Kaneda's first big year, as he went 22-21, 2.83 and led the Central League in strikeouts (and walks, too!). Sugishita was already well established by 1951, having won 27 games in 1950. In 1951, he won 28 games and lost only 13 to go along with a 2.35 ERA.
