JCM 46 is one of the earliest Japanese baseball card sets to contain actual player photographic images. Each card contains a large, sharp player image, along with the player's surname and Tokyo Big Six University League team affiliation. JCM 46 has always been the most highly regarded prewar Japanese baseball card set. The cards are quite scarce, as they have a scarcity factor of R5 according to Japanese Baseball Cards Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 3.0 by Gary Engel, which means that five or fewer copies of each card in the set are known.

Here we have a several high grade examples from this classic issue which originally came from a pack that we opened several years ago. The four cards being offered here are as follows: (left to right) Momose--Rikkio U., Nishimura--Waseda U., Sato--Waseda U., Yamada--Waseda U. None are Hall of Famers. However, Shigemi Sato was the Big Six batting champion in Fall 1930 with an average of .483!

Size: Each card is 1 1/2" x 5 1/4"

Condition: Range--Ex to Nm. The Nishimura card has a slight wrinkle near upper right and a bit of foxing on the back.
