This is the first time we have ever seen a giant size bromide with four yellow borders!  The card is a first prize winner from a yet-to-be-identified bromide set.  Japan Hall of Fame member Hiroshi Oshita is seen wearing his 1950 Toei Flyers uniform.  The image on the card is a colorized version of an original photo.

Hiroshi Oshita enjoyed a fine 1950 season.  He was Pacific League batting champion that year.  It was the second of his three batting titles.  In fact, his 1951 season was even more impressive, as he batted a whopping .383 and also won his third home run title.

Oshita was considered by most experts at the time to be the best hitter in Japan Pro Baseball, with the exception of the immortal Tetsuharu Kawakami.  The two were regarded as rivals.  Ultimately, Oshita was named to eight Pacific League Best 9 teams, and won the league’s MVP award in 1955.

Size:  7” x 9 1/2”

Condition:  Ex/Mt to Nm.  The card has a mark on the blank back from originally being mounted to a display sheet by the manufacturer.  All examples of this card will have similar damage.
