This card contains an image most likely taken at a 1949 East-West All Star Game. The players are all wearing 1949 uniforms, and all four players would have been on the same team for this game. Unlike American all star games, the players wore their regular uniforms with an "E" or "W" sown on the back, which blocked out the uniform number. The players featured on this card are all Japan Hall of Fame members. They are, from left to right: Noboru Aota, Victor Starffin, Tetsuharu Kawakami and Sadayoshi Fujimoto (manager).
This card is part of an uncatalogued bromide set which we estimate to contain over 2,000 different cards! Unlike nearly all other bromides of the era, no text appears either on the front or back. Therefore, the set defies cataloguing! We have had the pleasure of auctioning an example of this hard-to-find card on only one previous occasion. That example had a much fainter image than the card offered here.
