By 1949, 41 year old Japan Hall of Fame member Bozo Wakabayashi had been pitcher/manager for the Osaka Tigers since 1942.  Even at that advanced age for a player, the native Hawaiian was still an effective pitcher, as he went 15-14, 3.29 over 271 innings.  It would be Wakabayashi’s final year of excellence on the mound.  He signed with the Mainichi Orions for 1950 and was used sparingly until finally retiring after the 1952 season.  However, his .622 lifetime winning percentage and 1.99 lifetime ERA are testaments to his greatness.

Wakabayashi is seen here on a JK 15 Karuta card.  The card has the Japanese language syllable WO printed in Japanese on the front.  The card is blank backed.

This lot includes only the player image card, and does not include the associated reading card.
