From 1959 to 1961, formerly hot prospect Sadaharu Oh was a disappointment in Japan Pro Baseball. He was known as "Sanshin Oh" (Strikeout Oh in English), an obvious Japanese language pun. His biggest problem was that he had trouble getting around on a fastball. In January 1962, Hiroshi Arakawa was hired as Yomiuri Giants hitting coach. Falling back on his training in aikido, Arakawa completely changed Oh's batting stance from a conventional setup, to Oh's iconic one legged "flamingo" batting stance. The rest is history. Mr. Oh went on to set a world record with 868 career homers.

This ticket is for the game of 5/22/62. Oh smacked the 43rd homer of his career that day, which was also only his sixth home run since switching to the flamingo stance. The game was played at Korakuen Stadium. Oh hit the home run off of rookie Chunichi Dragons pitcher Tatsumi Yamanaka. Oh went on to clout 38 homers that season to lead the Central League and begin his climb to the home run pinnacle.
