Shotaro Ogawa was the greatest pitcher of his generation. After leading his team to eight consecutive appearances at the National High School Baseball Championships at Koshien, he starred at Waseda U. from 1929 to 1932, bewildering opponents with his fastball and "drop ball". After college, he continued his association with amateur baseball, shunning the "corrupt" idea of playing professionally. He was elected to the Japan Hall of Fame in 1981.

Ogawa is seen here wearing his Waseda U. uniform. The printed inscription at lower right reads "Waseda U., Ogawa, H.S.P. No. 84. We have seen a few cards with an H.S.P. notation before, but we have no idea as to what that acronym stands for, nor have we ever seen this Ogawa card before.

Blank backed card.

Size: 3 3/8" x 5 3/8"

Condition: The card has sharp borders and corners, but a bit of the image has lightened along the left and right edges.
