The card on the left is from the slightly larger sized JRM 39a set, while the card on the right is from JRM 39b. All cards in both sets are the same except for size. There are seven different cards of Shigeo Nagashima in each of the two sets. The cards in this lot are described in the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 2.1 in their respective sets as "Shigeo Nagashima red background wearing jacket". The text printed at the top of each card back is "Giants Furikake". These cards were most likely a promotional item for a product from the 1960s. Furikake is a condiment meant to be sprinkled on top of rice.

Shigeo Nagashima (HOF) began his career with the Yomiuri Giants in 1958 and retired in 1974. He was inducted into the Japan Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988 after having won the Central League MVP award five times and being voted to the league Best 9 team at third base every single year of his 17 year career. He is widely regarded as the most popular player in the history of Japanese baseball and is affectionately known as Mr. Giants.
