The JCM 169 set has just been catalogued, and will appear for the first time in the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, 3rd Vintage Edition with an assigned scarcity factor of R4, meaning that 10 or fewer copies of each card in the set are known to exist. While this card may be rather humble looking compared to many other early Sadaharu Oh issues, it nevertheless is much scarcer than nearly all others. This marks the first time that we have ever offered this second year card of Oh at auction.
Sadaharu Oh is seen on this card wearing his 1960 Yomiuri Giants uniform. The batter swinging in the background is unidentified. This card may be seen with any of a number of different space themed backs, as is the case with all cards in this set. Therefore, the menko number on the back is of no help in identifying the player pictured on the front. Luckily, all cards in the set, including this one, have the player's surname printed on the front.
If you are a Sadaharu Oh menko collector, this is a great opportunity to add a scarce card to your accumulation.
