The World Home Run Champion, Sadaharu Oh, played first base in 2,799 games. He manned that position in every single game in which he played in the field. In 1977, he briefly moved to the outfield during two games, but had no fielding chances in either, so most likely, these in-game moves were quite temporary.

Prior to the 1959 season, the Yomiuri Giants brass debated during spring training whether to have Oh pitch instead of play the field. The pitching idea was abandoned quickly. Then, they thought about putting him in the outfield. That idea was quickly dismissed as well. By the time the 1959 regular season began, Oh was already a first baseman. He spent the next 22 seasons as a first sacker in virtually every game the Giants played during that span. Here we see an image of the rookie Sadaharu Oh fielding his position.
