Hiroshi Oshita is seen here wearing his 1947 Tokyu Flyers Uniform. More importantly, he is pictured getting ready to swing his legendary blue bat. 1947 was Oshita's second season in Japan Pro Baseball, and it was a very successful season for him personally. He led the league in both batting average and home runs, and was named to the league Best 9 team. However, his Flyers finished in sixth place in the eight team league. Oshita ultimately won three home run crowns and three batting titles during his career. He was also named to eight Best 9 teams. In 1955 he was voted MVP of the Pacific League.

This card has been assigned a scarcity factor of R5 in the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 2.1 by Gary Engel. This means that five or fewer copies of this card are known. We know of only three. The card was originally a second prize winner card on a display sheet.

Blank backed card.

Size: 3 3/8" x 5 1/2"

Condition: The front would grade Nm or better with sharp borders, corners and gloss. It was hand cut by the manufacturer.  The blank back contains considerable glue and minor paper residue from previous attachment to a display sheet and also to previous placement in a photo album. The back also contains lines of blue ink, also possibly from the photo album.
