There are currently eight cards known to be in the rare JRM 42 set. Each card has a number printed in Japanese on the front, and we have seen numbers as high as 11. Therefore, we presume that there are at least 11 cards in the set. The Kobayashi card is the one with the number 11 printed at the top.

Satoru Kobayashi, a catcher, starred at Tokyo Imperial University in the Tokyo Big Six League from 1928 to 1930. He served as team captain for the 1930 season. Prior to his university days, he played for powerful Matsuyama High School, winners of the 1927 National High School Baseball Championships at Koshien. We have not been able to find any information about Kobayashi after 1930.

This card has been assigned a scarcity factor of R5 in the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 2.1 by Gary Engel. This designation indicates that five or fewer examples of this card are known to exist. Blank backed card.
