A nobori is a Japanese banner. It is a long, narrow flag, attached to a pole with a cross-rod to hold the fabric straight out and prevent it from furling around the rod. In this way, the field is always visible and identifiable. Nobori are seen on streets throughout Japan and are used primarily for advertising purposes.
Ichiro Suzuki was a spokesman for the Sato Pharmaceutical Co. in 2002. Sato is the manufacturer of the Yunker energy drink. Sato promoted the Yunker product very actively through Ichiro. In fact, Upper Deck produced a 20 card set in 2002 sponsored by Yunker and distributed throughout Japan in one card packs.
Here we see Ichiro pictured on a nobori promoting Yunker. We see the MLB logo, which appeared on all Yunker Ichiro ads. This particular ad is promoting the Yunker 10 pack. The text, "Go Yunker Power" in Japanese appears prominently.
Size: 23 1/2" x 70"
Condition: Unused, but has been folded. We think that the nobori were originally delivered to the advertising site in this form.
