The 1971 Yomiuri Giants won their seventh of nine consecutive Japan Series championships, which is attested to in the center of this shikishi (traditional Japanese signing board). After coasting to the Central League Pennant, the Kyojin dispatched the Hankyu Braves in five games to claim the title.
Players on the 1971 Giants team included four future Hall of Fame members (Sadaharu Oh, Shigeo Nagashima, Masahiko Mori, Tsuneo Horiuchi) and a future golden player (Isao Shibata). Additionally, manager, Tetsuharu Kawakami and coaching staff members Motoshi Fujita and Shigeru Makino are Hall of Famers. These autographs are among the seventeen signatures seen here.
