The 1951 U.S. Major League All Star Tour of Japan was the first postwar tour to feature Major Leaguers. The marquee names were the DiMaggio brothers, Joe and Dom, along with manager Lefty O'Doul. Other luminaries such as Billy Martin, Ferris Fain, Ed Lopat, Bobby Shantz, Bob Lemon and Mel Parnell also made the trip.

Offered here is a ticket stub from the game played on November 7, 1951 at Narumi Stadium. Tickets featuring photo images of players from this era are rarely seen in Japan. This ticket depicts Joe DiMaggio with Michio Nishizawa, Hall of Famer from the Nagoya Dragons. The image on the ticket was taken earlier in the Tour.  This is only the second ticket with photo from the 1951 Tour that we have ever handled, making it much scarcer than typical 1951 Tour tickets.

In this game, the U.S. defeated the Dragons 11-1, with Dom DiMaggio homering and HOFer Shigeru Sugishita taking the loss.

Size: 5 1/2" x 2"

Condition: There is a vertical top to bottom fold in the right hand portion, along with a corner crease at lower left, neither of which affects the image. The ticket and stub were not separated cleanly.
