In 1975, Sadaharu Oh experienced an "off year". He had "only" 33 home runs and 96 RBIs in a 130 game season. It was the first time in 14 years that he failed to win the league home run title. However, he bounced back in 1976, slugging 49 round trippers with 123 RBIs and a .332 batting average. He was well on his way to breaking the world home run record.
