Some Japanese baseball experts consider Shigeo Nagashima to be the best player ever to appear in Japan Pro Baseball. Batting cleanup, behind Sadaharu Oh who hit third in the order, Nagashima racked up an incredible number of trophies. He was named Central League Rookie of the Year in 1958. He was a five time league MVP. He was a six time Central League batting champion. He was named to the league Best Nine team in every year of his 17 year career. He was a flawless third baseman, said to be the equal of Brooks Robinson.
