This three volume, hardbound set is a historical compendium of Tokyo Big Six University League baseball from 1903 to 1931. It is a treasure trove which contains every possible piece of information you could ever possibly want to know about the teams, the games and the league. There are rosters, box scores, standings, game articles, etc., etc. along with thousands of images. In total, there are nearly 1,650 pages!
While we have had several of these sets over the years, all of the previous copies we had ever seen before now were softbound. The softbound volumes are super fragile, and, as a result, when found today, the books are generally in decrepit condition, including many inside pages. However, this lot, because of the hard binding, contains beautiful book pages that are completely intact, despite the significant wear and tear of the binding that these books exhibit. The inside covers each contain the same image--a hand gripping an official Big Six University ball, surrounded by the flags of each of the league's six teams.
This lot is a must for the Japanese baseball historian, or anyone else with an interest in Japanese prewar baseball information. Japanese text.
Size: Each volume is 7 1/2" x 10 1/2".
Condition: The binding is fraying. As a result, the outside of the binding has been reinforced with tape. However, the books retain their integrity with all of the inside pages attached. The inside pages themselves are in nice condition!
