This wire photo is dated 11/23/49. At that time, Fujimura and Betto had just finished participating in the San Francisco Seals Tour of Japan. The Osaka Tigers teammates recorded two of the three highest batting averages among the Japanese players who played during the Tour. As stated in the text glued to the back of the photo, Fujimura and Betto had combined for 83 homers during the 1949 Japan Pro Baseball regular season, but despite the heroic efforts of the two future Hall of Famers, the Tigers struggled to a fifth place finish in the eight team league. These two all time greats were teammates for only two seasons. Beginning in 1950, Betto was a member of the Mainichi Orions.

Size: 6" x 9"
