This large item, printed on thin poster paper, originally appeared as a furoku (gift insert) in the 11/25/34 issue of the Yomiuri Shimbun (newspaper). Over the years, this photo with facsimile autographs has often been reissued in various forms and sizes, including on postcards. However, the piece offered here is a genuine 1934 original that was first found in the newspaper. This original version is not commonly seen. In the March 2019 Steiner auction, another example was sold. Steiner had no idea of its origin, and claimed that it was the first they had ever handled. The piece realized nearly $2,000 in their auction.

The photo contains the entire 1934 Tour gang--Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Connie Mack, Jimmie Foxx, Moe Berg, Eiji Sawamura, Earl Averill, Al Simmons, etc., etc. According to the text along the bottom, the photo was taken at Jingu Stadium. Four games of the series were played at Jingu, so we are not sure of the exact date the photo was taken, although it must have been in November 1934. This item has always been undervalued and is a great piece to have framed. Blank backed.

Size: 10 1/2" x 15"

Condition: Some corner wear and very faint background browning not affecting the player images. Various creases and two small edge tears. Although the image presented here may appear to reveal a long vertical crease in the center, there is no crease. Overall Good.
