This is the first time that we have ever had the privilege to offer examples of this unusual set at auction. The fronts contain very generic baseball images, in which team names are not seen on the uniforms. However, the backs contain actual blue tint photographic action scenes from actual baseball games. They appear to be Tokyo Big Six University League games, however, no team names are visible. Possibly, there was a user rights issue.
We are unable to discern the actual identity of any player or team involved in the action from the images. The backs provide no clue, as they feature text such as "anti-aircraft gun" and "army engineers". In any case, this issue is quite scarce, as we recall seeing cards from this set only once before in the long history of our company.
Size: Each card is 1 3/4" x 2 3/4".
Condition: Range--Fair to Ex/Mt. Average Condition--Vg. All cards were hand cut from a sheet, most probably in 1929 or 1930.
