This is only the second Toyoda autographed item that we have ever been able to offer for auction. Yasumitsu Toyoda (d. 2016), a shortstop, was a member of the Nishitetsu Lions for most of his career. He was named 1953 Pacific
League Rookie of the Year and later became a member of the team's famous "H Bomb Row" batting order that led the Lions to the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Japan Series Championships. Along the way, Toyoda won the 1956
Pacific League batting title and Japan Series MVP. He also batted .500 in the 1958 Series. Ultimately, he was named to six Best 9 teams and clubbed 263 homers. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.
We believe that the
autograph dates from around 1990. It is signed in black marker, with Toyoda's name in the left column, and also an inscription relating to glory and effort.
Size: 9 1/2" x 10 3/4"
Condition: Shikishi--Nm. The autograph and inscription range from 7 to 10 out of 10.
